    David Pearson

Founder and Director of Ski Verbier

David has been in the ski chalet business in Verbier since 1992, when he founded Ski Verbier with just a single chalet. As a business graduate, trained chef and avid skier since the age of four, David had a passion for the mountains and felt strongly that the all-inclusive chalet holiday concept could be improved beyond all recognition.

Over the years, David built Ski Verbier into the leading quality chalet operator in Verbier, and one of the very best in the world. The company's enviable reputation was built around the professionalism and friendliness of its staff.

By the time David sold Ski Verbier in 2005, the business had seventeen chalets, 60 employees and occupancy levels consistently above 90%, with the vast majority of clients either being repeat or recommended through word of mouth.  David decided to purchase a hotel in Verbier with the proceeds of the sale and in 2010 he undertook a major refurbishment of the hotel.  It has been transformed into a stunning chalet and spa, sleeping up to 26 pampered guests. It is without doubt one of Europe's most spectacular chalets. Under its new name, No.14 Verbier, it is the flagship property of Verbier Exclusive, a new company he set up with Tom Avery in 2010.

In the summer of 2014 was exciting as David announced that he had aquired the Ski Verbier business back and that Verbier Exclusive were the new owners.

In 2009 David set up Verbier Exclusive with Tom Avery and quickly built up an impressive portfolio of  7 exclusive chalets. In 2014 an opportunity arose to buy back Ski Verbier which David jumped at. After restructuring the business, Ski Verbier Exclusive was formed to showcase all 17 properties.

David has four children and lives with his wife Annabel in the Cotswolds. All his children have learnt to ski in Verbier and will soon be catching their Daddy up!

    Tom Avery

    Director of Ski Verbier

After training as an accountant with Arthur Andersen, in 1999 Tom left London to work as a ski guide and driver for Ski Verbier.  He fell in love with Verbier and the mountains and returned to the City to work alongside David Pearson in Ski Verbier's London office until 2002, when he led a pioneering kite-skiing British Expedition to the South Pole.

In recent years Tom has built a reputation as one of the UK's foremost adventurers, manhauling sledges, scaling unclimbed mountains and driving dog teams to the North Pole.  Tom is one of just 41 people in history to have reached both North and South Poles by foot, and in 2005 made global news headlines for leading the expedition described by the Guinness Book of Records as “the fastest surface journey to the North Pole”.

Tom is a regular on the international speaking circuit, giving motivational lectures to conferences and businesses, such as the Davos World Economic Forum and the National Geographic Society in America.

In 2006, Tom led the first ever British team to complete the notorious Zermatt to Verbier Patrouille des Glaciers ski mountaineering race.  He has spent several winters in Verbier, training for his expeditions and writing books about his record-breaking polar expeditions.

Tom's most recent challenge saw him breaking another World Record, this time for the fastest coast-to-coast crossing of Greenland in May 2015.  Using kites and pulling two sledges each, Tom and his three team mates smashed the previous record by more than a week, completing the crossing in just 9 days, 19 hours.  During one night, the team kited an incredible 180 miles in 16 hours, the equivalent of travelling from London to Manchester.

Tom lives with his wife Mary, and their three daughters in the Cotswolds.

"An Alpine corporate weekend trip with one notable difference: your guide has skied to both Poles. It is reassuring to know that the man ahead of you has spent more than 10,000 hours with his feet strapped to a pair of skis"
